Mass production; planned obsolescence; our virtually inbred obsession with automobiles; our desire to always be driving a near current model; etc – all of this has led to there being a lot more automobiles around than there are in actual use. Some might be in good condition but, somehow, surplus to their owners current requirements; others might have become so worn out by long usage as to be no longer in a fit condition to be driven anywhere; while others may have been wrecked in collisions or suffered irreparable mechanical damage. They could, theoretically be simply abandoned along the roadsides; or they could be parked up and left to rot in some sort of storage area. However, neither of these presents an ideal solution to the question of – “what to do with an unwanted motor vehicle?”
Do Not Waste Resources
The owners of any vehicles that can be safely driven and meet all legal and environmental statutes should be able to sell those vehicles on to someone else; but, it is sometimes amazing how many people simply cannot be bothered. When totaled on the highway, the wrecked vehicle will usually be towed directly to a scrap yard where the scrap metal and auto parts dealers will “do their thing” with its remains to make money out of sensible recycling. However, this still leaves a lot of vehicles (out of active service) that sit idly around the country; even when each and every one of them has potential used parts that can be reused plus metals and other materials that can be recycled.
They All Have Some Value
A Model T Ford sitting in a barn somewhere with a completely blown engine, no wheels and a shot transmission might still have bodywork that is in reasonable shape; if so, that body alone could be worth a lot of money to a collector of vintage vehicles. In fact, any automobile that is “off the road and out of service” can be a source of income for somebody. Even a non-collectable, mundane vehicle contains spare parts that can be removed for renovation and subsequent sale to an owner of the same make who is experiencing mechanical or other problems and needs to replace some of his parts.
This is on top of the value of scrap metal in the bodywork and structural members. To capitalize on the full value of Junk Cars In Chicago; you need to contact a specialist recycler like Aero Auto Parts; many of them will collect the vehicle and pay you good dollars.
