Granite is one of the most popular materials for countertops in both the kitchen and the bathroom. It is popular for many different reasons. Granite is a sturdy material that does not scratch or chip easily; this means that it will withstand the heat and humidity from a kitchen. It will survive spills while you are cooking or showering. Furthermore, if your knife slips off the cutting board, you won’t damage your granite countertop. However, there are many considerations that you should have.

Uncommon Countertops

One of the biggest concerns with a granite countertop is an uncommon counter shape. A rectangular counter is no challenge for granite fabricators but ones with uncommon shapes can be a little more difficult. Some counters are made with right angles, which are fairly common. However, many counters are made with more obscure angles. In that case, you’ll need to make sure that you have great fabricators who can build great counters for you.

You can find bespoke countertop designs at website. They will work with you to produce a countertop that fits your counter perfectly and suits your needs.

Granite Thickness

You should also ask your granite fabricators about granite thickness. As a stone, granite is very hard but also can be brittle if it’s too thin. A large counter will need a thicker piece of granite to make sure that it does not begin to crack around the middle. Also, a thicker piece of granite will be allowed to hang over the edge of the counter a little bit more, which will expand the size of your countertop with very little work. You need to make sure that you have a thick enough piece of granite to overhang.

If you still want thin granite, the fabricator might need to build a base of support for the slab of stone.
